Crown and Bridge
Work
The
crown is the part of the tooth that is seen above the gums. Although
teeth are strong they may become weakened if the tooth is chipped
or broken, severely decayed, heavily filled or if the tooth has
had a root canal.
In these cases, a crown is often the best way to save the tooth
and strengthen it. A crown fits over the natural tooth and replaces
the natural crown.
Bridges
replace missing teeth. They consist of an artificial tooth anchored
to the natural teeth on each side of the gap. Crowns and bridges
are usually made of porcelain because it is strong and can be made
by a skilled technician to match the colour of the natural teeth.
